Visegrád Four: EU must support biofuel industry

From a meeting of agricultural sector leaders from the Visegrád Four (V4) nations (Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia) came a call for the European Union to support the development of crop-based biofuels.

The statement in part "urge[d] EU decision-makers to ensure a stable environment for this sector’s development and give additional consideration to its potential in the economy and rural development sector."

The V4 nations can reportedly supply some 8 billion liters of biofuel to the Union per year, a figure representing about 1% of European fuel demand.
