Ukraine Crisis: Hungary supports Ukraine integration into EU
Hungary supports the initiative launched by eight EU member states to promote Ukraine's European integration, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
Szijjártó noted that on Monday the eight member states - the three Baltic states, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria and Slovenia - unveiled a joint initiative that Ukraine should be granted EU candidate status and accession talks should begin as soon as possible.
Hungarians do not want war, so Hungary will give Ukraine all the help it needs that supports peace, the minister said.
He reiterated that the government will do everything in its power to protect Hungary and the Hungarian people from the conflict and "to prevent Hungary from drifting into this war".
