Rate-setter to replace retiring government commissioner for postal, financial services

EU

National Bank of Hungary (MNB) rate-setter Andrea Bártfai-Máger was appointed to replace Zsuzsa Németh as government commissioner for postal affairs and national financial services, according to a resolution published in the latest issue of the official gazette Magyar Közlöny, Hungarian new agency MTI reported today.

János Lázár, who heads the Prime Ministerʼs Office, announced a week earlier that Németh was retiring.

The resolution requires the commissioner to draft a long-term strategy for the sector along with proposals for the government by September 15.

Bártfai-Máger has resigned from her position as an external member of the National Bank of Hungaryʼs rate-setting Monetary Council, the central bank said today.

Her resignation reduces the number of external members on the nine-member council to four. By law, the Council must have more external members than internal members, also four at present. The law also limits the number of Council members to nine.
