Poland prepared to fight financial crimes
Poland is currently one of the better prepared countries to fight financial crimes, says Robert Typa, Poland’s representative in the Experts Committee „Moneyval”, which deals with fighting money laundering and financial terrorism.
The committee evaluated efficiency of law regulations employed in 29 member states and discussed reports on fighting financial crimes in Monaco, Latvia, Lithuania and Montenegro. According to Robert Typa, who is responsible for the department of financial analyses, regulations should be designed to deter and constitute an efficient barrier against illegal transactions. However, he added that in Poland there are still problems with confiscating property of criminal origin. Every year the Polish Banking Supervisory Office questions transactions to the tune of millions of euros. (polskieradio)
