New UK budget proposal little changed from old one, minister says

The new UK proposal envisions a total EU budget for 2007-2013 of €849.3 billion, a slight €2.5 billion more than the previous proposal. It also gives new member states back some of the money cut in the earlier proposal. In that proposal, funding for new member states was reduced 8.5%. Under the latest proposal, Hungary is allocated €140 million more than the €22 billion in structural and cohesion funds promised it in the earlier proposal.
