KSH: Hungary’s farm gate prices fall 7.2% in January

Farm gate prices in Hungary have seen a year-on-year drop of 7.2% in January, with prices of crops falling by 7.4% and prices of livestock and animal products down by 6.9%, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported today.
Grain prices were 9.9% lower, but prices of industrial crops increased by 16%, chiefly lifted by prices of oil seeds, which grew by 18.6%. Potato prices fell by 37.8%, while prices of fresh vegetables dipped 4.7% and fruit prices fell by 21.1%.
According to KSH, hog prices were down by 9.1% and poultry prices fell by 1.6%, with egg prices rising 5.5% and milk prices falling by 1.7%.
