KSH: Hungarian population undergoes natural decrease

In the first four months of 2015, 29,184 children were born, marking a 3% increase from the previous year, however,  the number of deaths increased by 21% to 48,929, resulting in a natural decrease of 19,745, up 4,518 from the same period a year earlier, Hungary’s Central Statistics Office reported today.

In January – April 2015, there were 9.0 live births per thousand inhabitants, 0.3 per mille points higher than during the same period last year, and 15.1 deaths per thousand inhabitants, 1.7 per mille points higher than in the same period last year. The rate of natural decrease rose to 6.1 per mille points, according to the statistics agency.
