Hungary records greatest fall in unemployment among OECD members in September

EU

The 0.4-percentage-point month-on-month fall in Hungary's unemployment rate in September was the highest among the 34 member states of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) for the month, the organization reported earlier this week.

Spain and Italy recorded the highest mo/mo rises in unemployment among OECD members in September at 0.4 and 0.3 of a percentage point, respectively.

Hungary's unemployment rate was 9.9% in September, still above the OECD average of 8.2% and an EU average of 9.7% for the month.

OECD noted that the figures are seasonally adjusted and are harmonized rates which may differ from national statistics for methodological reasons.

Hungary's Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported an average unemployment rate of 10.7% in the 15-74 age group in July-September, down from 10.8% in June-August. In the 15-64 age group, the jobless rate was unchanged from the previous three-month period at 10.8%.
