European Commission yet to decide on resuming talks with Hungary, EC spokesman says

EU

"The European Commission has not decided yet on resuming formal or informal talks regarding financial assistance with Hungary, Commission spokesman Olivier Bailly said in a clarification issued Thursday afternoon.

Earlier Tuesday he said that formal negotiations between Hungary and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the European Union (EU) are scheduled to begin in January.

Mr Bailly noted that informal talks between Hungary and the IMF and the EU regarding the package had broken off last week as a result of disagreement regarding the country’s financial-stability and central-bank bills.
