EU calls Hungarian protests an internal matter

EU

Finnish Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen, whose country holds the rotating presidency of the European Union, on Tuesday called the demonstrations in Hungary an internal matter, adding that the EU would not take any action, "at least not today".

Vanhanen expressed concern about the latest events but added that such crises "should always be handled in a parliamentary fashion". "We [the EU] won't take any action, at least not today," he told Finnish commercial channel MTV3. "This is a matter of internal democracy of an EU member state. [...] I hope things will calm down and that they will debate the issue in the Hungarian Parliament which will bring solutions," he said.
