EC urges Hungary to write emissions directive into law

The European Commission on Thursday said it was urging Hungary to send it details on how European Union legislation on industrial emissions is being written into domestic law. Member states had until January 7, 2013 to enact in national legislation the EU's new emissions directive. Hungary missed the deadline and was sent a letter of formal notice on January 31, 2013. The Commission is now sending a reasoned opinion to the country. If Hungary fails to act on the matter within two months, the case may be referred to the Court of Justice.
