The European Commission approved a EUR 91 million Romanian state aid scheme in support of bovine, pig and poultry producers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Commission said on Tuesday.

The measure is aimed at reducing the liquidity issues faced by farmers as a result of the measures taken by the Romanian government to curtail the spread of the coronavirus.

Of the total support package, bovine farmers will get RON 170 million, RON 167 million have been allocated to swine farmers, while poultry producers are entitled to RON 116 million.
