Parliamentary committee postpones decision to issue MNB report for general debate
Parliament's Budget and Audit Committee on Monday postponed taking a decision on whether to clear a report by the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) supervisory board on the central bank's activities in 2010 for plenary debate.
State Audit Company (ASZ) chairman László Domokos asked the committee in a letter to hold off on their decision until November, when ASZ prepares its own report on the MNB's operations last year.
The committee voted 17:2 to postpone the decision until November.
The decision followed a lively debate on the bank's activities last year.
Supervisory board chairman Zsigmond Járai reiterated his earlier stand for the committee, expressing serious concern about the transparency of the bank's operations, the high salaries of its managers and unnecessary spending on communications and consulting services.
