Local council votes to support Budapestʼs 2024 Olympic bid

The Budapest Municipal Council today voted a motion to support the capitalʼs bid to host the 2024 summer Olympic Games, with 25 voting in favor, one voting against and one abstention.
The bid is expected to be made jointly with the Hungarian Olympic Committee and with the support of Parliament.
The council mandated the mayor to sign a declaration of intent on the application with the chairman of the Hungarian Olympic Committee, following Parliamentʼs decision to support the bid.
