Hungary to build national arena

Hungary's government has announced plans to build a HUF 70 billion – HUF 90 billion national stadium in Budapest. Construction of the 65,000-capacity arena could start at the end of next year and will be completed at the end of 2017, government commissioner in charge of the project László Vígh said at a press conference on Tuesday. The arena will be built inside of the walls of the existing Puskás Ferenc Stadium. Government spokesman András Giró-Szasz said a further HUF 30 billion – HUF 40 billion would be invested to renovate and rebuild other existing sport facilities and build an aquatics center as part of the National Olympic Center investment.
