House Speaker: Finance deficit must stay under 3%
In an interview with daily newspaper Fejér Megyei Hírlap, House Speaker László Kövér stated emphatically that the sitting government is committed to holding the country’s public finance deficit to less than 3% of the national gross domestic product (GDP).
The deficit is not to grow beyond the 3% mark in order to “serve our interests” rather than necessarily to meet European Union requirements. Köver also promised that Fidesz would not be running in the 2014 parliamentary elections with an “election-campaign budget.”
