Budapest mayor calls leftist opposition ‘stupid’

Commenting on the government’s immigration policy, Budapest Mayor István Tarlós referred to the actions of leftist opposition parties as "stupid", according to an interview with the mayor on the recently launched online portal 888.hu.
Tarlós said that he agrees with the Hungarian government’s immigration policy, and that “there simply are no other solutions.” Commenting on the “behavior” of the leftist opposition, he said that “in thirty years, when their grandchildren will be in a different position in their own country, they will be able to say, that this situation was caused by my stupid politician grandfather, whose only obsession was to object to anything [Prime Minister] Viktor Orbán says.”
In response to an aside as to why he likes the zoo so much, he said that “animals are, at many times, more honest than humans.”
The online portal of 888.hu was recently launched, and Hungarian news reports suggest that it is part of the Hungarian government’s new media empire. In response to the question of what message Tarlós would like to send to the team of 888 journalists, the mayor said that “I wish they were able to compensate, what needs to be compensated.”
