18th Hortus Hungaricus opens in Budapest
The 18th Hortus Hungaricus International Gardeners Exhibition opened in Budapest's Syma Events Centre on Friday.
Hungary's gardening industry is worth HUF 700bn-800bn a year, fruit and vegetable growers association FruitVeB head Béla Martonffy said at the opening. Fruit and vegetable growers generate about two-thirds of the sector's revenue and growers of ornamental plants 20%, he said. Growers of herbs account for 6-7% and the rest is generated by grape growers and vintners, he added.
The 18th Hortus Hungaricus International Gardeners Exhibition features almost 200 stands. It is expected to draw about 20,000 visitors over three days.
