Villages receive an additional HUF 7.5 bln of gov't funding

More than 1,100 applications for HUF 7.5 bln of government funding have been approved to provide support to municipal councils in Hungarian villages as part of the Hungarian Villages Program, government commissioner for development of settlements Alpár Gyopáros said on Monday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
Applications were open in four categories. HUF 1 bln was allocated for constructing pedestrian sidewalks, HUF 0.5 bln was available for purchasing medical equipment, HUF 3.1 bln for purchasing communal equipment and HUF 3 bln for acquiring buses for village and farm caretaker services.
Since 2019 the government has distributed nearly HUF 200 bln of funding to 19,000 successful applicants through the Hungarian Villages Program.
