Government

Settlements with less than 10,000 inhabitants can participate in the settlement afforestation program, the budget of which has been doubled to HUF 1 billion, Deputy State Secretary for Forests Sándor Szentpéteri, of the Ministry of Agriculture, said on TV news channel M1.

He added that settlements can submit applications for up to 24,000 large trees and the related planting package from June 2021.

The program will have two planting seasons: this fall and next spring.

As part of the planting package, specialists and employees of the National Forestry Association will help to plant trees in the public areas of the settlements.
