Gov't Prioritizing Gas Exploration

Government

The Corvinus project, aimed at further research and development of the unconventional natural gas field Nyékpuszta (215 km southeast of Budapest) in Békés county, was declared a priority investment, according to napi.hu.

After getting official approval expedited, the first well that has already been drilled could start production by January 2023, the Ministry of Technology and Industry said in a statement.

The purpose of the Corvinus project is to explore natural gas assets and put them into production.

The initiative is fully consistent with the government's intention to increase domestic natural gas production as part of energy emergency measures.
