Gov't calls 6th tender for workers hostel subsidies

Government

The government is calling its sixth tender, this time with an allocation of more than HUF 10 billion, to help the establishment of workers hostels, state secretary for employment policy Sándor Bodó said in a statement on Tuesday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

Non-refundable financing is available to municipal councils, associations of municipalities and private companies for the construction or refurbishment of hostels with at least 80 beds, and refundable support is available for the purchase of assets needed for completing the projects.

In the previous two rounds of tenders the government received grant requests far in excess of the available funding, Bodó said.

Combined funding of more than HUF 15 bln was awarded in the first five tenders since 2017, adding workers' hostels with the capacity to accommodate nearly 6,000 people.
