Awards in the framework of a government program launched in 2015 to support investments at big companies ineligible for European Union funding have reached HUF 160 billion, Finance Minister Mihály Varga said in a video message posted on his Facebook page on Monday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

The subsidies have supported investments with a combined value of over HUF 382 bln, Varga said.

He added that HUF 25 bln has been earmarked for the program this year.

Last year, the program payouts reached HUF 70 bln and supported 43 investments worth HUF 155 bln. These investments contributed to the preservation of almost 16,500 workplaces and created more than 700 jobs.
