U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May will reportedly meet her Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orbán in London next week after returning from a trade trip to India, according to BuzzFeed News. The meeting of the two leaders has not yet been confirmed officially, however.

The possible meeting comes amid concern from a number of EU governments that the U.K. is seeking to “divide and conquer” in Brexit negotiations, BuzzFeed noted.

Orbán’s potential visit might be expected to “fuel accusations from a number of EU and European officials that Britain is building an alliance with Hungary’s right-wing leader in an attempt to divide and conquer the EU in Brexit negotiations,” BuzzFeed observed. According to the news portal, Orbán earlier praised May, saying “she has done excellently… she’s clear-cut.”

Regarding the relationship the United Kingdom seems to be developing with Hungary, BuzzFeed quoted a senior EU official, who told the portal: “Good company May is keeping.”

Quoting an unnamed senior Hungarian government official, BuzzFeed reported the meeting of the two leaders has been planned for some time.

“We have no announcement to make in connection with foreign visits,” Bertalan Havasi, head of the Prime Minister’s Press Office, told Hungarian news agency MTI in connection with press reports of the possible meeting.
