Consumer protection inspected a total of nearly 26 million pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE), of which more than 4 million were banned from customs due to incomplete documentation, the Parliamentary and Strategic State Secretary Tamás Schanda of the Ministry for Innovation and Technology said, according to origo.hu.
Schanda emphasized that due to the epidemiological emergency, almost 20 times more PPE was stopped at the customs border in 2020 compared to the previous year. From the 300,000 seized in 2019, the number of items filtered out during customs clearance last year increased to nearly 6 million, mainly due to the protection devices examined in large numbers.
