The number of students applying at Metropolitan University Budapest (METU) grew by 11% last year, well above the national higher education average, the institution has told the Budapest Business Journal.
The number of applicants putting METU first on their application list for higher education institutions grew by 7% year-on-year. According to the university, METUʼs MyBrand education system played a major role in triggering the increase. MyBrandʼs goal is to organize studentsʼ competences into a portfolio of achievements that gives a realistic picture about the abilities mastered by the student, making them stand out in the job market.
While applications for Masterʼs programs fell across the country on average, METU registered a 37% increase. In recent times, the university has launched programs in topics like marketing which are in high demand at the moment, contributing to the increase.
Interest in correspondence courses has jumped too, by 28%, much higher than the 2.4% countrywide average.
"Data shows that the developments in educational methodology at the Budapest Metropolitan University offer a proper answer to the needs appearing on the labor market," says Bálint Bachmann, rector of METU.
"There is barely anything more important for an educational institution, as our students can leave our university armed with competitive knowledge at the end of their studies."
