Marriage rate in Hungary above EU average

According to a report by the EUʼs official statistical agency, Eurostat, the marriage rate in Hungary is above the EU average, with 5.2 marriages every year for 1,000 inhabitants.

The average rate for the whole EU is 4.3 marriages per 1,000 people.

The highest rates were registered in Lithuania (7.5), and Romania (7.3). Cyprus and Latvia share the third place for marriages, with 6.8 marriages per 1,000 inhabitants in both countries.

The lowest rates were measured in Slovenia (3.1), Italy, and Luxembourg (both 3.2).

Eurostat says that the numbers are from 2017, except the EU average and U.K. data (2015), and statistics from Germany, Ireland, and France (2016).
