The board of the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) on Friday decided to pay the state a HUF 250 billion dividend on 2020 earnings, the central bank said, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
"The additional resources will also contribute to the management of the crisis resulting from the coronavirus pandemic and the success of the economic recovery," MNB said.
The central bank had earnings of HUF 255.4 bln last year. The dividend is level with that the central bank paid the state last year.
MNB noted that some HUF 5.9 trillion in additional resources were pumped into economy through central bank programs last year, and this year that amount would rise by HUF 2.175 tln, including the impact of the dividend.
The central bank has paid dividends four times since 2013. It paid dividends of HUF 50 bln on earnings from 2015 and 2018.
