Coca-Cola to double water bottling capacity

Initiatives

Coca-Cola Beverages Magyarország, the Hungarian unit of the Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company, plans to double local mineral water bottling capacities through a Ft 2.5 billion ($14,6 million) two-year project.

The program aimed at upping the output of NaturAqua products in Zalaszentgrót will be backed by Ft 500 million ($2.9 million) worth of EU funds.

Coca-Cola, which gained support of both the Hungarian government and Brussels in a tender invited this year in scope of the Economy Boosting Operative Program, said the technological upgrade would help improve Hungary's competitiveness and would also create further supply possibilities for local small and medium-sized enterprises. The new production line with double capacities, Coca-Cola Beverages managing director József Tarsoly said in a statement.

The first bottle of NaturAqua mineral water rolled out of the company at the end of 2002. Coca-Cola Beverages (Magyarország) Kft is the Hungarian subsidiary of Athens-based Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company, which is the umbrella for bottling units in 28 countries.
