Toshiba Corp said Wednesday that it planned to file a suit against the European Commission for its decision to impose fines on the Japanese electronics company for allegedly joining an international cartel for producers of gas insulated switchgear.
Toshiba plans to demand that the commission withdraw its order filed at the European Court of First Instance. The Japanese firm said in a press statement that it had not violated EU Competition Law. The executive body of the European Union in January fined 10 Japanese and European firms, including Mitsubishi Electric Corp and Siemens AG of Germany, for allegedly forming the cartel to control the market for the heavy equipment used at power plants. Mitsubishi and Hitachi Ltd have already filed separate suits against the commission's order. (monstersandcritics.com)
