Three companies dropped from metro tender

Germany’s Siemens, South Korean Hanwa-Rotem and Canada's Bombardier have been disqualified from a bidding process to supply 37 metro carriages for the planned new 4th and the existing 2nd subway lines for about Ft 40 billion-Ft 50 billion, daily Népszabadság reported without naming a source.

The three bidders were allegedly eliminated after "serious technical errors" were detected in their bidding documents, leaving the Russian Metrovagonomas and the French Astom-led Budapest Metropolis Consortium as two companies still in contention. Of the two, Metrovagonomas is reported to have made the higher bid.
