RWE plans €1 bln pipeline from Czech Republic to Belgium

RWE AG, Germany's second-biggest utility, plans to invest about €1 billion ($1.29 billion) to connect its Czech and German natural gas networks with a pipeline from the Czech Republic to Belgium.

RWE AG, Germany's second-biggest utility, has applied for regulatory approval for the pipeline, Chief Executive Officer Harry Roels will say today in a speech in Essen, according to a printed version distributed to reporters. The pipeline will probably begin service in 2011 and will transport 5 billion cubic meters of gas each year, the company said. (Bloomberg)
