Railway engine drivers postpone strike to August 2

Trade union of railway engine drivers MOSz has postponed a two-hour strike scheduled for July 7 to August 2 and will select additional dates for strikes, the strike committee announced on Wednesday.

The union decided to put off strikes on June 2, June 29 and July 7, called to protest the planned elimination of early retirement, until the Budapest labor court makes a ruling in a case launched to define minimum services. Until a decision on the matter is taken, the strike cannot be legally held, MOSz said.

Leaders of the trade union announced that MOSz would contact Hungarian and international trade union associations and the International Labor Organisation in protest against the fact that strike rights in Hungary can only be exercised safely following a legal procedure that takes more than a month.
