Quarter of Hungarians would choose socialism

Roughly 23% of Hungarians would prefer to live under socialism, the regime they shook off 16 years ago, a survey published on Wednesday reported. Social research institute Tárki, reporting on findings of a 2005 survey covering 11 one-time socialist or communist countries, found that only in the Czech Republic did democracy get over 50% of votes. In Hungary, 28% of the sample said it preferred democracy, 36% said it made no difference to them, and 13% said they would really like to opt out of both.
