Polish president says signing EU treaty “pointless”

Polish President Lech Kaczynski will not sign the European Union's reforming treaty for now because the Irish rejection made it “pointless,” he said in a newspaper interview.

Asked by the daily Dziennin if he would sign the treaty - the last step needed for full ratification in Poland after both chambers of the parliament backed it - Kaczynski said: “This is now pointless.” (Reuters)
