Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai has nominated former minister Szabolcs Fazakas as the new Hungarian member of the European Audit Office, the Government Spokesman's Office told MTI late on Thursday.
Fazakas held the economy, trade and tourism portfolio in Gyula Horn's Socialist-led government in the late 1990s, and was member of the European Parliament from 2004 to 2009.
Bajnai consulted Árpád Kovács, head of the Hungarian Audit Office on the matter who found Fazakas fit for the post, Government Spokesman's Office said.
The new members of the European Audit Office will be elected for a six-year term by April 2010. (MTI-ECONEWS)
