The main opposition Fidesz party has decided to recall its board members from companies owned by the City of Budapest.
The announcement of István Tarlós was made after the Socialist Party called for an ad-hoc committee to look into the contracting practices of municipal companies.
Tarlós said that such issues as scandalously high severance payments distributed by public transportation company BKV should be subject to a legal investigation rather than reviewed by a municipal company.
"We will not participate in the farce," the politician said.
Fidesz's deputies have only represented a small minority on the relevant boards anyway, Tarlós said.
"There is no point in going on like this," he said. (NTI)
