Legislation in force from Friday increases the scope of Hungary's Customs and Excise Office (VPOP) to investigate economy-related offenses, Finance Minister János Veres said at an induction of customs officers on Friday.
The new legislation gives the VPOP the authority to investigate tax fraud, payroll tax fraud, fraud related to government subsidies or EU funds, accountancy fraud and bankruptcy fraud among other suspected offenses.
