Mota-Engil SGPS SA, Portugal's biggest construction company, won a contract worth Ft 1.1 billion ($5.5 million) to construct a section of highway in Hungary, the government said.
Mota-Engil will build a 1.1 kilometer (0.7 mile) section of the road connecting the Hungarian and Croatian capitals at the two countries' border, according to the online issue of the government's procurement gazette. The Oporto, Portugal-based company is seeking business outside its borders as Spanish builders gain ground in its home market. Mota-Engil won a road order in Romania this month and is a finalist to build and manage highways in Poland. Other bidders included Teerag-Asdag AG, a unit of Austria's Allgemeine Baugesellschaft-A. Porr AG, Germany's Hochtief AG, Austria's Bauholding Strabag SE, Mannheim, Germany-based Bilfinger Berger AG and the local unit of France's Bouygues SA. (Bloomberg)
