The National Development Ministry expects to take a decision on changing Hungary’s motorway vignette system by the end of the month, state secretary Pal Volner told MTI on the sidelines of a conference on Wednesday.
A plan for changing the vignette system exists, Mr Volner said, but he declined to reveal any details before a decision on the matter is taken.
The ministry reviews the vignette system every year, he added.
The ministry is also working to introduced a usage-based road fee system in Hungary, Mr Volner said. Details are being worked out, such as the scale of the fees and the types of vehicles to which they will apply, he added.
