Ministers who refuse to provide correct information or prepare action plans ordered by the State Audit Office (ÁSz) may face imprisonment under new legislation currently being prepared on the body, Népszabadság reported. If it can be established that the responsibility lies with the minister, they may face a prison sentence up to three years under an amendment proposal to the penal code. State Audit Office head László Domokos told the paper that such severe punishment could be issued for instance in cases of providing false data about the budget, as happened in 2006.
