Landslide opposition victory in Pécs

Zsolt Páva, the candidate of the top opposition Fidesz party was confirmed the winner of a local mayoral elections held in Pécs on Sunday.

Páva overcame his biggest rival, house speaker Katalin Szili representing the governing socialist party (MSzP) with a commanding margin of 36,570 votes over 18,981. The early elections were called in the town due to the recent death of mayor Péter Tasnádi. The Sunday vote was held with a 44% turnout. (Gazdasági Rádió)
