EU Tax and Customs Commissioner László Kovács gave testimony for the first time on Tuesday to the newly-formed economy committee of the European Parliament.
Kovács summarised the tax proposals the Commission had made with the aim of helping strategies to boost competitiveness, slow climate change and secure energy supply. He also outlined the Commission's fight against tax fraud and steps to manage the economic and financial crisis.
Most of the committee's older members expressed their appreciation of Kovács's cooperation with the European Parliament.
