Former Hungarian finance minister and central bank governor Zsigmond Járai stated he would be happy to take on an official role in a government that is to be led by the conservative Fidesz after the general elections in April.
Járai said the Hungarian economy must be pointed in a completely new direction and although maintaining a balanced budget is important, it is in itself insufficient to solve the problems the country faces.
The new government will have to drastically improve the competitiveness of the business sector by reducing taxes, red tape and forcing back corruption, he said.
While the outgoing Bajnai cabinet was able to improve the deficit of the budget, it neglected ten other obvious measures that would have been greatly needed, Járai stressed. (MTI – Econews)
