Hungary may lose funding due to energy policy

Hungary could lose several hundred billions of forints in EU funding if it fails to announce tenders for the Environment and Energy Operative Program (KEOP) in time, the head of department at the Environment and Water Ministry Csaba Nemes warned.

The European Committee would only approve of Hungary’s KEOP, should the government incorporate passages on the use of alternative energy sources and on the subject of economical energy consumption in the overall strategy on energy. In a joint effort, the Environment and Water Ministry and the Economy and Transport Ministry have already started working on the integration of the complements. (Magyar Hírlap)
