Hungary: Key committees clear proposed tax changes

Parliament’s budget and economic committees cleared both the minority government’s tax proposal and its planned Robin Hood tax on energy companies for general debate at meetings on Wednesday.

The committees took both votes with a narrow margin as opposition MPs on the committees voted against the bills and independent MPs were absent. The proposed Robin Hood tax would subsidize district heating with proceeds from a temporary, two-year 8% profit tax on energy companies. (MTI-Econews)
