Hungary: Gov’t sets up anti-faking monitor

The government announced on Monday, that it has founded a new organization called HENT, to protect intellectual property. Government Commissioner Ferenc Kondorosi was appointed to head the body.

Kondorosi said the organization’s activity could decrease black economy by 30% in five years. HENT, will fight against fake brands, counterfeit goods and strive to enforce intellectual property rights. HENT’s tasks include working out a strategy, compiling a package of measures and supervising their execution, launching information campaigns and taking part in the employees’ retraining at the police and judicial bodies. HENT’s first step will be to create a comprehensive database on intellectual property. The head of Hungary’s Patent Office Miklós Bendzsel said the office will finance the operations of HENT with an annual budget of Ft 75 million. (MTI-Eco, Népszava)
