Hungarian Tax Office publishes new shame list

1,908 individuals had tax arrears of over Ft 10 million on March 31 this year, a new debtors’ list posted on the website of the National Tax Office (Apeh) shows.

Out of the 1,908 entrepreneurs, 476 had permanent debts of Ft 100 million ($549,700) dating back longer than 180 days, Apeh said. The lists only reveals debtors’ name and address, the exact amount of their debt remains secret. However, possessing the available information, future business partners may evaluate the risk of making business with the persons indicated on the list. The corporate list of debtors is led by a firm with a total debt of Ft 1.654 billion ($9 billion), while further nine companies owe more than Ft 500 million  each. Among the private entrepreneurs, the first place was secured with a tax debt of Ft 136.8 million. (Gazdasági Rádió)
