Gyurcsány promises changes in state administration in first 100 days

If the main government Socialist party gets the mandate to continue in government, then the first 100 days must be spent on making resolute changes in state administration and the party will submit a comprehensive set of bills, Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány said on public television on Friday.

The number of ministries will be reduced to around 12 and there will be fewer ministry background institutions as well as simplified government structures, Gyurcsány said. Gyurcsány noted that the high budget deficit figures for the third month, which followed two good months at the beginning of the year, are being analyzed in order to differentiate between one-time effects and trends that represent a warning.
