The Competition Office (GVH) announced on Wednesday it fined Tesco Global Stores Zrt Ft 36 million for misleading advertising. The GVH said Tesco had failed to stock, or stocked only limited amounts of, products advertised as sale items. The stores also compared markdowns not to prices immediately before the sale, but to much earlier ones. The watchdog said Tesco's claim that one sale item was available only at Tesco stores was false. The GVH said it took into consideration similar offenses made earlier by Tesco when determining the size of the fine.
